My drama teacher says that my grade can pick our play and he gave us some suggestions like Once on this Island, Guys and Dolls and Godspell. I was wondering which plays you guys would suggest? Just so you know, there are only about 4 people (3 girls counting me and 1 boy) who like to sing. The rest of my grade likes sports, rap music, Hollister...etc

And I go to a private school

thanks!

I think you guys would have fun with Guys and Dolls. Even the ones who don't like to sing may get into it. I love Once On This Island, but those not into Musical Theatre may not love it so much, same with Godspell.

Godspell is an really good play, but I don't think that any school would be able to do it without some moron raising hell about it because of its religious content. Oklahoma is a good one too. I think my favorite of all is The Music Man, good music, good storyline.

Break a leg, and post about what play everyone decided on.

I saw Once on This Island done by 8th graders, and it was fantastic! I was so impressed. You might be surprised to find out how many people really do like to sing. A lot of people are too shy or too busy to show anyone.

You'll probably have great participation!

If a one-act play will do, take a look at my, "Business Is War" (running time, 50 minutes). It's been performed in 7 countries, including the USA and Canada.

You can download the first scene for evaluation from:

And there's no singing involved.

Bye Bye Birdie would be good, very age appropriate. I would avoid 'Grease' not because its a bad show, its just done to death.

If all else fails why not do a talent show and let everyone show their talent? Its a thought.

Seems to me that even people who aren't into theatre or musicals get into Grease.
