Waxing gibbous, just past 1st quarter.

The terminator is crossing Sinus Iridum, the Bay of Rainbows. This is one of my favourite views of the Moon, watching sunrise in the Jura Mountains.

A "waxing" moon, just past a first-quarter moon. "Waxing" means getting brighter, "waning" means getting dimmer.

An unbreakable rule - if the right-hand side of the moon is bright, it is going to keep getting brighter until it becomes a full moon (completely illuminated). If the left-hand side of the moon is bright, it is going to keep getting dimmer until it becomes a new moon (completely dark).
