6 black kids beat up a white kid, so why is the black community throwing a fit. If the tables were turned and 6 white kids beat up 1 black kid the black community would be throwing a fit about any of the kids getting bail. It is called mob action six on one is never acceptable no matter the color. All the kids involved should get punished properly. And can we say double standard, you can not have things your way all the time. What is okay for one race is okay for the rest of them.

Acctually I do read the news papers. My point is if it were 6 whites on 1 black the black community would want the 43 year sentence the judge could hand down. you must not have read my question...

Here's the background:
[The case dates to August 2006, when a black Jena High School student asked the principal whether blacks could sit under a shade tree that was a frequent gathering place for whites. He was told yes. But nooses appeared in the tree the next day.
Three white students were suspended but not criminally prosecuted. LaSalle Parish District Attorney Reed Walters has said he could find no state law covering the act.
The incident was followed by fights between blacks and whites that culminated in the attack on Justin Barker, who was knocked unconscious on school grounds. According to court testimony, his face was swollen and bloodied, but he was able to attend a school function that night.
Five of the teens were originally charged with attempted second-degree murder — charges that have since been reduced for four of them. The sixth was booked as a juvenile on sealed charges.]
The kids who put the nooses up got what they deserved, suspension, as they had broken no laws, but clearly had acted inappropriately. Now that one who WAS NOT EVEN INVOLVED WITH THE NOOSES has been beaten by 6 other kids, the perps are charged with assault (plus sealed charges). What's the big deal? Did the whites apparently start this whole thing? Looks like it. Were they punished appropriately for doing so? I think so. Were the blacks victims of bigotry? Clearly so. Were they justified in beating another student unconcious no matter what that student may have said? No. Are the NEW charges of assault appropriate? Yes. I don't see what the big deal is now.

Even though the kid might night have been hurt seriously that doesn't mean the perps are off the hook for attempted murder. If the kids intended to kill the kid, it is irrelevant that they failed. It was still an attempt and that is punishable by the maximum sentence. If they shot at him and missed and the victim wasn't even grazed, that would still be attempted murder. I don't know enough about the facts in this case and what the perps intentions were but ganging up on someone also carries a higher sentence as does using a weapon would. I agree with you though. Black or white, people should all be held accountable in the same way for their crimes.

I take it you haven't been watching the news or reading the newspaper. The big deal is that they want to put a kid in jail for 100 years because he got into a fight with another student who is white. Does that make sense to you? People have gone to jail for worse things than that and go less time.
The big deal is; we're trying to get past racism, not bring it back.
The white students (from my understanding) were sitting under a tree they marked for WHITES ONLY and the black students wanted to sit under the same tree. The white students had a problem with that and decided to put a couple of nooses hanging from the tree implying, lynching!
Now, that is a problem! I'm not condoning what when down because this all this could of been avoiding.
Also from my understanding, the principal of the school who is also the prosecutor told the black student if he complained about what when down that he would spend the rest of his life in jail and that's why he gave him 100 years and that's what the big deal is. No, we can't say double standard because it not. What's good for white is not always good for black and if you paid attention, you would see and know that.

The black kids knocked the white kid UNCONSCIOUS. Assault by hitting a shoe on a guy is still ASSAULT!!
The black guys were old enough to know the consequences of their actions. They should go to jail for LIFE.
The white kid had FREEDOM of SPEECH. He abused it, but when you start limiting freedom of speech, everything is subject to interpretation and we can't have the government involved in every little court case.
The white kid played with the black kids' minds.
The black kids hurt the white guy physically.

The fuss is all about the blacks believing racism is only one way towards them. No white mobs ever march against blacks' racism towards whites. The blacks are in denial to say that there are members of their race who are just as racists as some whites are. Racism is predominant around the world.

Don't get to caught up in the white against black thing. It's an ignorant state of mind which ever side your on. The thing is 6 humans were incredibly cruel to another human. That's what is such a shame. And for what?

This is the way it has always been in America. Now, I just have to tolerate Sunni and Shi'a problems. Color doesn't matter where I'm at, and if Jesse or Al opened their mouth here, they would just stuff them with an RPG.

sadly, you are correct. to black activists, all that matters is the color of the people's skin, and they side with the black people. exactly what happened or who is at fault is of no consequence. it's so obvious that it's quite sad that these black activists get the attention, support, and respect that they do. talk about keeping racism alive in a nation where it is as close to dead as it ever will be.

You answered your own question:
"All the kids involved should get punished properly"
The big deal is that the African-American kids were charged with attempted murder when all they did was beat a kid up. The kid that got beat up was even well enough to attend a school function later in the same day...hardly seems like attempted murder.

Unfortunately no matter which way you cut it whenever there is black on white crime or white on black crime certain leaders in the black community are going to scream racism!
