Matches or Twizzler sticks...who collects,and where are your "collections" from?

What types do you have,...(as in designs on the covers, or hotels, or bars, for the matches..or even in the twizzler sticks!)

I started collecting match-boxes back in the early 1970's... back when every and any business had matches for advertising. My matches came from almost every state in the USA, as well as England, The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Baharain, the UAE, Australia, and Tasmania.

I kept collecting thru my last cruise with the US Navy in 1997, and have it in storage. It's in excess of 2000 books.

My Dad also collected match-books... He would pick up some for each kid also, and when we turned 11, we were able to control our own collection.

I collect match books! Where ever I go out to eat I just grab a pack. Bars, clubs, hotels etc. My mom started doing it and when she passed away I just continued for her : ) Its kinda like a scrap book for mental paictures. You totally forget about going to this whole in the wall bar or pub thats really not a big deal at the time, you pick that particular book of matches up and all these images come back into your head. Its neat : )

My DH used to collect matchbooks from bars and hotels. Stopped collecting when he quit smoking.

Now, I, on the other hand, collect shot glasses and I don't drink! Go figure! I just like the shapes and colors. I have about 30 right now, no 2 alike, and non have printing on them--no advertising, states, etc. Except for one that has raised glass printing, and that is an old Calvert Whiskey shot. My fave one is cut lead crystal. I also collect vintage salt cellars, but that's another story!!!
