Community colleges are usually cheaper and it helps some people decide if they are ready to go away from home. It will also help you decide exactly what field you want to go into. Just remember that just because it is a community college you won't have to work as hard, some classes might be harder. Good Luck

Community college saved my butt. Its way cheaper than a 4 year university and your taking the same classes. Its only 2 years and all your taking is your prereqs for half the price. Is that a good deal or what? Plus your receiving an Associates Degree at the end of your 2 years. Come on do the math.

a 2 yr degree in CJ (or ANY major for that matter) is needed for just about any entry level job in CJ. This includes corrections, EPA officer, DEC officer, FW officer..... and of course, normal cop. Transferring to a 4 yr institution after graduating from a 2 yr is not a problem. Noone will care, if you have a BS degree from a 4 yr college. (I am not an above average intellectual, just someone with a terminal doctorate) So take the math you need, get the job done. Just get it done. hang in there... in this economic climate, the 4 yr degree wil pay off in the long run

Yes, they are definitely worth it. If you choose to go on for a four-year degree, you can save thousands of dollars and overcome any deficiencies in your high school record which might have kept you from a good school. If you stay with the two-year associates' degree, at least you have a degree, which you would not if you had gone for two years to a four-year university. Just be careful which community college you choose - they vary widely in quality.

It was for me because it gave me a chance to really explore my intillectual side and get to know what I really wanted to do in life. Also, once I graduated, not only did I have a degree in only two years, I also had the choice of deciding to head straight into the workforce or continue to a university.
