I have chosen a stage name, but I'm not sure If i can use it. I searched for it on the internet movie database, and there were like 7 results, but none of them were actors, they were all camera and technical crew and 1 director. is this name usable then since none of them are actors?

As long as the name belongs to behind-the-scenes people, there's no problem with it at all. And even if it didn't, the only problem would be civilian confusion.

Here is the single best suggestion for a stage name: Use the one that appears on your birth certificate. The only legitimate reasons to not use that one are 1) it's already taken by another actor, or 2) your agent or representative of the studio or theatre for whom you are working ahs a reason to want you to use a different name. Of greater concern to you should be perfecting your craft so that someone will actually care what your name is.

Check with the union Equity. Not all Equity members are actors. A director may have been an actor at some point and registered the name, as may a technical person. I work in stage management and I am member of Equity - my name is registered as mine. Not everyone's name appears on the internet.

People generally do not use stage names nowadays. Unless their real name is all ready taken by a union actor.

Once you are ready to join SAG or AFTRA, they will tell you if the name you chose is being used by another actor.
