Can't be helped.

After the Second World War and the Cold War, the US simply emerged as the greatest economic, technological and military power in the world. That's not something that can be undone easily even if Americans were inclined to do so.

In some ways the US was simply fortunate. In the early years the two oceans islolated the country from foreign powers. Neither Canada to the north nor Mexico to the south were aggressive militarily. Combine those facts with the tremendous natural resources that come with any continent and there you have it - a first rate world power.

Because as far as they are concerned, they are number 1 out of 1. In other words, they see themselves as being the only ones. Nothing of interest or importance happens outside the US of A, which is proven by the fact that only a tiny proportion of the entire US population own a passport, the rest have absolutely no need for one.

Presumbaly, you mean USA government? To us, it all depends on VALUES [defined as "ultimate criteria by which all else is judged"]. If my ultimate values are POWER and SUPERIORITY, then I'm likely to want to "win" - to be Number One - in every situation. [E.g., During the British Empire, the Brit Govt always insisted on being Number One. Nowadays, amid the American Empire, the USA Govt always insists on being Number One.]
However, if my ultimate values are EQUALITY OF RESPECT FOR ALL HUMANS, then I'm likely to "talk to agree" -- i.e., sustain mutually-cooperative argument until there is a genuinely-mutual agreement (but only for one step at a time).

Boy tough question. Let me think.

The lead dog on a sled team sees the majestic countryside.

The other dogs work just as hard, but spend the trip staring at a hairy anus.

I give up. Is it because we're self absorbed and superficial?

The Americans vote for the best, the Brits vote for the underdog. I am not always keep on the Americans but I have to say, we could learn something from their positivity and will to succeed.

I can see your point on this. I have friends from America & they are fine.

TV I think puts a lot of people off of America because non americans see them as showoff's & make out they are better then anyone else.

On Tv you see skinny girls on Baywatch. See the real US you see women who are not.

We don't want to. It's just that no other country can handle it. I'm hoping on China taking over. We need a break from all this baby sitting.
