I read somewhere that Anton Lavey took a lot of his ideas from Ayn Rand. Is this true? Can you see similarities?

From Wikipedia: "LaVey has stated that "his religion was “just Ayn Rand’s philosophy, with ceremony and ritual added."[10], though many say that 'he should be given credit for his creative synthesis of the thought of others into what has become the most influential statement of modern Satanism."

I'm not familar with Satanism at all, but I am quite with Ayn Rand. She certainly was an atheist and a materialst.... and from what I've read on Wiki, so was LaVey. So yes... and no.

I don't think Ayn Rand would have advocated any form of ritual as created by LaVey.

No idea whatsoever if either of the poor creatures borrowed from one another...but why on earth would anyone care? Anton L. howls at the moon, and poor Ms Rand focused her energies primarily on getting the next man into her bed--using the wiles of her hijacked philosophy lite [altered at the seams, but still from one of her lovers] to speed up the traffic and give her more of a glow. As can be said also about the other creative scamster, L. Ron Hubbard, nobody in the US of A ever went broke inventing a new religion/new philosophy or new golden grift....think of all those earnest grad students trying to mine diamonds out of bull-puckey! Pitiful, IMHO.

Most likely coincidence.

Self Interest is the source of both good & evil.
