What type of shoe soles are better for tango dancing, leather or suede?

It depends on what kind of floor you're going to use it on. If you have nice clean wooden floors then suede is better. If you have carpet or a dirty floor then leather is better. Suede sole is usually softer and givers you better "feel' of the floor.

I think leather would be better. Depends on the performance and the style ya know ;)
