To Ocho: They did a great job, buddy. =-)

To Elaine: I don't believe in Heaven too adamantly myself. However, as is said in a bunch of sappy movies and books, the spirit of the people we've lost live on in our memories... and in our actions.
That's why, like I stated recently in another question, we just have to focus on making life easier for others. Once we're gone, we're gone. The only chance we have of living on is through the lives of others that live on after our deaths.

As far as my own answer to this question...
I'd have to go with the many teachers and friends I had through my turbulent upbringing. Sadly, I don't think I had a single role-model or idol... But rather... I am a combined effort of many wonderful souls. An amalgam of beliefs and stories... A mixed blessing, I suppose. (Amalgam is the right word there, right?) (And it's spelled right, right?) =-)

I'd have to say my father, he achieved abilities in Karate I can't reach even at 6th dan. He was amazing, he could convince him self if he was to get scored on in sparing it met he was dead. So he fought amazingly 6 to 8 students including all his highest students.
They could not touch him no one could score on him, he said everything in his head would slow down to slow motion every time he spared. So because of this he had plenty of time to move correctly and block correctly avoiding getting scored on while at the same time scoring on everyone with his kicks, strikes and punches. He was amazing and there are still people around that remember my fathers matches not just him.
that is my Karate influence, now my guitar influence.

My father used to play at parties and I would love to listen to him play all the old rock and roll songs, he was very good. I have a cousin he says my father was one of the best around, and my cousin plays like Chet Atkins, so that is quite a complement from him. I learned to play but my influences were different I chose harsher players like Jimi Hendrix was my main influence. Where as my father was more rounded he played many group's songs. Louie Louie, Wild thing, House of the rising sun, California sun, Pipe line, Wipe out, these are the songs he played and more. I play them too but my own versions with a lot of Jimi thrown in! lol

My father built up a security business, a Karate business passed on to me, An alarm system business now gone now integrated into the security business.

He had our house built and designed and had built the entire top half years ago in the 80's when business was good. This used to be a one floor (not counting the basement floor) house since the 60's when it was originally built for him and my mom .

So my father achieved quite a lot and that is why I look up to him and wish I could achieve what he did or something like it for myself.

To me he has reached a perfection I wish I could some day be good enough to reach myself.

My sister. Everyone in the family calls her when there is a family problem. She knows how to handle/help anything/anyone! She's the 2nd youngest of 5 girls. It was my mom when she was alive. She seemed to know the answer to everything & could make me feel better about anything, no matter how terrible. If I can be half the mom she is then I will have done a wonderful job! I miss her so much!

My father is my guru. He was my idol growing up. He has not only taught me the best principals of healthy and happy living, but has also been with me through the journey of life. He is a great friend and has a lot of patience.”

“We recently went on a seven-city tour in the US and it was brilliant. We spent a lot of time together and spoke on every topic we could. I have learnt professionalism from him too.”

Emotionally, it was my grandfather (may he rest in peace), who loved me unconditionally and never said a harsh word to me, even when I deserved it. Intellectually, it was a teacher who encouraged my love of the written word and criticized (if I can use that word) in a gentle and constructive way. He also passed away a short time ago. These are the times I wish I could believe in a Heaven!

My parents. They loved me and helped create the person I am today. They have me a great work ethic which has always helped me. Their love gave me self-esteem, but not too much. They let me dream and never discouraged my dreams. When they found out I was gay, my dad had a hard time with it, but my mom always supported me.

My parents....they taught me right and wrong, the importance of being respectful and compassionate, keeping an open mind, and the importance of love and happiness in your life...
they are always open and willing to do anything for me but weren't afraid to give me some tough love from time to time...
they are beautiful people and I couldn't ask for better parents...they made me who I am.......=)
