If people want to refer to the "Jena 6," I wish they would limit their arguments and opinions to what these 6 boys are accused of doing. Six people beating one person even after the one person is unconscious is loathsome, despicable, and cowardly. Claiming that they had a right to do so, or claiming that the victim deserved it is even more so.
If people want to talk about the nooses in the tree, arson, or any other incidents, I wish they wouldn't group them with the "Jena 6." These boys are on trial for their own actions, not because of what someone else did or failed to do.
Sure, other incidents could have been handled better by the appropriate authorities. But if the District Attorney is truly and honestly only seeking the punishment the laws demand, is that a reason to label him a racist?
And now that the race card has hit the table I'm afraid no one will get the unbiased truth.

I totally disagree. Color should definitely not be put aside. This is without a doubt a racially motivated act, and even if these kids dont think so, there is alot of history that proves this as racism. Why would anyone do such a thing that has caused so much pain and tension on the african american race in the past.
What is RIGHT, is that action should be taken indefinitely. What is WRONG is that these students think it is okay to hang nooses on a tree implying that these students be hanged. Why not just talk to the black students and ask them not to sit there?? So many other measures could have been taken.
Im sorry that you are so ignorant to how serious this is. Even if I was caucasian I would feel the same way.

I don't think you can separate the race of the people involved from this issue - this is why it happened, because of race issues. The black students were put on trial on charges far out of proportion to what they actually did - attempted murder??? My god, the kid they beat up went to the hospital for some cuts and bruises and apparently went to a party that very night! The prosecutors were not acting out of any sense of justice - it was a charge that was far more serious than it needed to be and why? Because these kids were black. End of story. This has everything to do with race!

Scumbag opportunists like Jesse and Al will make sure this is a race issue. 6 black kids stomped 1 white kid so it's just school kids fighting, they shouldn't be punished so severely. If 6 white kids did the same to a black kid Jesse and Al would demand the kids be convicted of a hate crime and locked up forever.

This crime shouldnt be about race but apparently it is cause it all started with nooses in a tree. Which in my opinion is racists but it should've stopped at that....why was there a need for violence???

I don't see how six guys beating one guy is acceptable. The media has twisted this story and distorted facts. One should be held accountable for his crimes. 2D
