Get a Media Center PC, with a digital Tuner.
This can serve as your PVR

If you don't have a TV, get an HP Mediasmart 1080p LCD TV, it allows you to stream content from your PC to your TV via the home network.

If you have a PC, get an Xbox 360 and use it as a media extender to stream content from the PC to the TV.
