I'm not sure exactly what happened but my breath got really short and my heart beat really fast and it was kind of weird, not bad but scary... I was with my boyfriend and he was doing something to me that my mom said is wrong, do you think maybe God punished me with a mini heart attack??

The same thing happened to me once but I wasn't sinning, just testing the new shower head. I think you should say fifty hail marys and if it happens again, see the doctor!

Okay, as far as the Heart Murmur thing goes, it's not something you would feel all of a sudden, you are either born with one or develop one later like I did, I was diagnosed in my late thirties with one, What you felt was your heart racing, or maybe beating a little irregular. You were doing something you shouldn't have been doing and it made you nervous and you felt that in your chest. I wouldn't go to the doctor just yet, if it happens again when you are not doing anything, or if you have chest pain, or get short of breath, or break into cold sweats, or anything unusual happens. If it will make you feel better, by all means go to the doctor.

Take it from someone who was born with a heart murmur and now lives with ventricular tachycardia, what you experienced was an anxiety attack. Very frightening, to be sure. And if something caused you that much stress and anxiety, you should not be doing it. As far as God punishing you, that is beyond my realm of expertise, but you were certainly punishing yourself. I am assuming that you and your boyfriend were exploring something sexual in nature and you are obviously not ready to go there. This may sound trite, but it is none the less true, if he is not willing to wait until you are ready then you are better off without him. Do not give into pressure from him if you are not ready, it will color your sexual experience for the rest of your life and that is too great of a loss to accept. Sex between two people who truly love and trust one another is one of the most beautiful things you can share, and when the time is right, you won't have any doubts.

I have a heart murmur for about almost 12 years now. A heart murmur can run in your family, or it can be heriditary which it came for no where for no reason at all. you can get short of breath and faint and alot of other things but if your heart is beating really fast it might not be it, but I suggest that you still go to see a doctor. A cardiologist.

Good grief...

Heart murmurs are caused by blood backflowing in the heart due to slight alterations in the hearts build. You've born with them.

It sounds to me like you just got a bit overexcited (what was that boy doing?). Either that or you may have had a slight panic attack.

That said, if you're worried about your heart it's best to seek professional medical advice.

By the way folks, I hear the advice on breathing into a paper bag to stop a panic attack has been contradicted now, apparently it increases the CO2 in your body way too fast. The best bet is to slow your breathing by counting between breaths.

I'm not gonna touch the God part. A heart murmur is a congenital condition (i.e., born with it). You may have had a irregular heartbeat, which is a passing thing and scary, but fairly normal. I've had that happen a couple of times too.

Sounds more like a palpitation. Sometimes that happens when you get frightened or nervous. A murmur is a defect of the heart. If the palpitations continue then you should see a doctor.

You are joking right? You are BORN with a heart murmur. You don't just HAVE one. Your heart was beating funny because you were excited or you were having a panic attack.

A heart murmer doesn't come and go - it just is there. Sounds like a panic attack? Breathe into a paper bag.

No honey. I don't think God punished you nor do I think you had a heart mur-mur. I think you had a slight anxiety attack. I don't know what your boyfriend was doing, wrong or right, but my guess is that whatever it was gave you a little anxiety/excitement.
