Ferrari is not even a remote possibilitie for Alonso.
Alonso would most likely not be able to secure the set number 1 designation he wants, which is the main sticking point in his current situation. Moving to the same situation with a diffferent team wouldn't make this better for him.
For Ferrari... well, there are many issues about why Ferrari wouldn't want this. First comes the issue that they have two drivers under contract for next year, and I don't think Ferrari considers Alonso to be clearly supperior to either of their current drivers. But assuming they did... you have the issue that Alonso verbally agreed to join Ferrari before he signed with Renault. Todt's reaction was supposedly a firm "he'll NEVER wear red" type comment. So even if you throw aside all of the other issues and were to assume Ferrari are completely blind to the negitive impact Alonso has had on an otherwise cohesive team at Mclaren, Todt is still in charge and not an Alonso fan from the earlier incident.
Given the rumors swirling around Alonso at the moment, I don't think many teams would be willing to risk so much to bring him on board. Renault may be the one exception since his history there is a little more positive, and he could be given a clear number one status. Anywhere else though would most likely be either a team Alonso would not want to go to, or a team that would not want to take such a gamble.

From a character perspective, yes, bringing in Fernando Alonso Diaz-his full name-would be a mistake. However, the ultimate goal of F1 is to win the drivers and constructors championships. Ferrari management must obviously feel that neither Felipe Massa nor Kimi Raikkonen on their days can equal Alonso. Regardless of what any of us may think about what Alonso did-I think it was disgraceful-he is probably the most talented driver right now in F1 and one of the best-if not the best-in the world at what he does. Plus, it would further damage McLaren-Mercedes, and that might be the real reason why something like that might occur.

I think that Alonso could/should if he can, go to Ferrari, but it wont make his work against Lewis Hamilton in 2008 any easier, Felipe Massa and Lewis would make a good team, I also think that the matter of the $35 Million Ferrari offer to Lewis is pócket change and that Maclaren can hold on to their golden boy by increasing his contract value way over the Ferrari offer, after all they have backers Bank Santander to line their coffers, even that $100 Million USD fine is more like being taken for $100, mullti $1 Billion dollar bank Santander and hence Maclaren have got so much money sloshing around!

I hope this isn't the case, 2 championship contenders rarely work well together in a team, Alonso- Hamilton Raikkonen- Montoya Prost- Mansel Prost- Senna N. piquet- Mansel G. Villneuve- Pirioni....etc, they often end up causing heartache, limit development and knock points off each other, limiting constructors championship and drivers champ possibilities. Not a good idea for Alonso, Ferrari and F1 in general.

Funnily enough I've posted a similar question tonight.
First of all dropping Massa would be a very unkind reward for his good work. Secondly would Alonso be prepared for joint number one status.
I think we may be in for a shock. Some might laugh but don't rule out Alonso going to Toyota. Schumacher became a legend for turning Ferrari around, Alonso might see the parallel at Toyota.

Massa is driving good. I don't see him going anywhere next year unless he is pushed out or he is mad that he has become the No. 2 driver behind Kimi. Massa has probably heard the rumours himself that Ferrari made a 35 million bid for Lewis Hamilton.
"Italian sports daily Tuttosport reported Monday that Ferrari was prepared to offer F1 rookie Hamilton US$35 million (€25.37 million) to defect next season."

In my opinion, Ferrari has nothing to lose from making Hamilton an offer. They might sign him even though Hamilton is extremely loyal to Mclaren. Or at the very least, they will drive up the price of Hamilton and hurt Mclaren in the pocket book.
As for Alonso, he will go back to Renault. Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica has backed Flavio Briatore’s campaign to reunite Renault with Fernando Alonso. Renault needs serious money like this to pay a salary like Alonso's.

I'm sure Toyota with their big budget has made lots of offers.

wow, if alonso moves to ferrari... i can already see ferrari being excluded from the constructors' championship... lol. i dont think he will move to ferrari, considering he WANTS to be THE number 1 driver. ferrari, as it says, is still undecided on picking their number 1 driver, but i suggest Kimi at this point since he has a better chance at winning
alonso clearly will be out of mclaren, well that's about 90%, but his future team? it is highly anticipated that he will come back to renault, but who knows?

Er...I like Ferrari the way it is now!It would be even sweeter if Schumi were to come back.
Everywhere Alonso goes turns topsy-turvy.I certainly dont want to see him in Ferrari.
The only probable place where he should go to is home,I guess.I think Mclaren would be better off without him.
I'm sorry all you Alonso fans,I just had to say this.

wouldn't be surprised if it happened. There are no loyalties in F1, the best driver will go to the best team and one of the best drivers in the world is Alonso and one of the best teams is ferrari. Personally i hope no one gives him a drive because he hasn't earnt one with his behaviour since joining mclaren.
