school should be held accountable for no intervention. i believe a class action suit against the school board for negligence is next. all the 6 kids have to do is prove they were not counseled and experienced extreme emotional turmoil for the incident involving the hanging of the nooses from the tree. when references to times of slavery or civil rights movement are maliciously used, it heightens tensions; racists understand that and use this as a powerful tool of agitation. there's a history of racial incidents, yet no 1 counseled either side. seems like we're still living in 1955-1965. i wud have whooped his azz 2.
it's kind of funny how Jena doesnt want to be painted as a racist town, but how can it not after what has taken place?
News flash!!! these kinds of fites happen everyday. when did kids get tried for attempted murder or sentenced to 22yrs for mob action fites? racists! this was not the action, but the reaction to the cause of this entire episode.

i agree, one is 18, he shouldn't even be in high school, and they all have records. The one in jail has 4 assaults on his record already. Just a peak at what he'll be like by the time he's 20 and in a prison. The noose incident was a year ago, and the kid they beat didn't hang them. It's a racist school, on both sides. Blacks will always cry hate crime, unless they are the ones being charged, then it's a mistake. Seems hate crimes only apply to the whites. If it were 6 white kids on 1 black kid, they would be calling it a hate crime and attempted murder, go figure.

One thing that is wrong here is where is the outrage and the demonstrations from white people? I think that probably both whites and blacks have a reason to be angry with what has happened here but why is it that only blacks have held a protest march? Where are the white counterparts to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to rile up the people to yell and protest against injustice and racism. Just remember that racism goes both (actually many) ways and is not exclusively white.

I don't think they should been put in jail for 22 years since they aren't adults. I don't see why they were charged with adults sentencing. I do think they should receive punishments for their juvenile act. Also, I am furious at the fact that the town didn't do anything regarding the Caucasian teenagers that hanged the nooses.

I'm going to agree. Ganging up on someone and beating the hell out of him because you're offended (keep in mind the kid who was beaten had nothing to do with the nooses) should be punishable, even if you are black. Sorry, Jesse Jackson.

One must be accountable for his/her actions. Especially, if one of the six attackers, Mychal Bell, has had prior violent convictions. 2D

I agree they brought this on themselves. They need to pay for what they did! I have read about it and can't see what the heck THEY are going on about, they are old enough to know that that was wrong!
