Why is it that so much of the U.S. population does not have a command of the English language?

I am no spelling and grammar genius, but come on! It seems that most people can't even spell many common words correctly.

Not everyone in the US grows up in a house where they speak English let alone read books to their children, both requirements for someone to have any chance to master the language in school. And many more people who do have those things find that in school being forced to read turns them off to reading, and they also often find that one can "get by" in American schools without learning basic spelling and grammar, and they actually are allowed to graduate without those skills, and actually get by in life as well being practically illiterate. You'd be surprised by how many Myspace users write, "I hate books" in their favorite books section. But not that most of those people are drunken, drug using, party animals and skanks working menial jobs.

Your spanish-talking pals are taking under-minimum salary jobs that somebody who speaks Englsih would not be compelled to take. If all those human beings have been deported, pour united states of america might grind to a halt. Who may well be the maids, the nannies, the busboys? all human beings bemefits. Alos, your ancestors have been immigrants, too. They particular as hell did not talk a observe of English whilst they arrived.
