sureswinter100's method will tell you how many ways there are to arrange the 7 letters (staemik, tsaemik, atsemik, etc.). In other words, how many permutations there are...this doesn't tell you how many words there are.

Here's my list:

(s) means if you add the s to the end, it makes another word:

make(s)
take(s)
sake
mite(s)
smite
mistake
stake
steak
tame(s)
same
kit(s)
skit
item(s)
time(s)
site
mist
mate(s)
sate
skate
ski
kite(s)
skim
mast
mask
emit(s)
ate
eat(s)
seat
tea(s)
task
team(s)
steam
meat(s)
aim(s)
ask
tie(s)
stem
sat
set
sea
east
sit
kismet
mike(s)
teak(s)
mesa
seam
skat
mat
met

There are a few others that the spell checker here doesn't recognize, but Dictionary.com does. I think that they may be used more outside of the US is why. Here they are:

kismat (alternate spelling of kismet)
samite (heavy silk fabric)
skite (quick chopping blow)
stime (a little bit)
tike(s) (alternate spelling of tyke)
sike (small stream or a ditch that fills with water when it rains)
