Alot of it is that MTV isn't playing music anymore, unless you are up at 3am to watch videos.

So we aren't getting to see a wide variety of stuff...it's mainly just let's play anything that is hip-hop or from a boyband or girl group...or suvivor's of thoose groups...and screw it with anyone else. Even VH1 which doesn't play much music anymore still at least plays some music.

It's just time for the idiots in charge of thoose networks to be fired..and for people who want to get MTV and VH1 back to being about the music in charge.

Then we will see a lot more of a variety of music again...and it will make it easier to find something that everyone likes on the channels in question. This will make it a more balanced top 40 in turn...and thus.....we will see a better top 40.

Part of it is that thoose of us who grew up in the 80's and 90's remember it as our time...so that is playing on it too...we are gettin' older...and thus....we aren't the cool athorities anymore...that's the kids and teens that are out there now. So part of it is generational....just us gettin' older and not liking what theese kids' are listening too...just like our parents did it to us.

There is some good music that is out now...but a lot of it is by artists that started in the 80's and 90's. Some of the new artists just absolutly suck, others are pretty good...it just depends on what you are into.

I will agree though..that a lot of changes need to happen...because there is way to much crappy music going out over the airwaves right now. This generation needs it's version of Micheal Jackson, of Madonna, of Paula Abdul, of Janet Jackson, of Cyndi Lauper, of Aerosmith, of Bon Jovi, of Def Lepard, of Huey Lewis, of Metallica and of the N.W.A, LL Cool J, Dr. Dre and Salt n' Peppa....just to name a few. But for them to have that version of our generations' greats.....they actually have to be talented enough to be that kind of artist.

Its not just you. I agree with you, But the thing is people were already saying this in the 90's and 80's. Music seems to have more to do with money than talent or originality now days.

You got older and that music was "your music". I could ask the same question but the years would be from the late 50's to the late 60's.

Times change and it sucks but the music comes back. In the late 70-early 80's, I could not find anyone playing what I called " Oldies" Now they've made a big comeback so I'm happy for now but it probably wont last. You'll have the same thing too.

That is your opinion. I tend to agree about the 90s. But I am sure the generations before us thought the same thing about the 80s and 90s.
However, a lot of it does sound the same now. Also the artist seem to put out the exact same thing over and over again.

I agree 100% Today's music just isn't original and I lot of the songs sound the same. I'm not into today's music. I love 80's music, much more original imo.

I agree. I'm trying to find good stuff to listen to nowdays but it all sucks. Even people younger than me are listening to 80's music, because there is just not much out there that is good. I think the time is ripe for a new music revolution.

The 80's and 90's were as bad, I don't know what you're talking about.

We haven't had decent charts since the early 70's.

Because it has f uck all to do with music these days and everything to do with image, attitude and getting a clothes or perfume line. Talent is not a pre-requisite anymore.

The music of this generation sucks the WORST!
