If your antivirus software is up to date, you may have an overheating problem. Unplug the PC, open up the case, and hunt for dust bunnies. Remove with canned air or a very soft brush, do not use a vacuum cleaner.

Maybe your computer has sleep mode enabled. Causing your computer to sleep, usually by moving the mouse will wake it. Holding crtl+alt+delete will only get you into the windows task manager, so I don't see how this gets your computer to respond.

Need more information to diagnose what's going on... for instance, when you ctrl+alt+del are you having to do it to make the sstem reboot or are you going into the task manager and turning off running processes to get it moving?
Obviously, make sure your antivirus/firewall software is from a reliable vendor like McAfee, check that it is enabled, automatically updating, and properly configured.. to rule out a virus. You can do a web based scan from here:
http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/
Check the amount of ram and cpu ghz you have and the amount of things starting on your computer..
Right-Click on the My Computer icon and click Properties
this will tell you the CPU size and the amount of ram you have in your computer.
Click Start > Run > type msconfig > hit enter > click on the Startup Tab to see how many programs are starting up in the background when you boot up
Look for things that are not important like quicktime, adobe, if you aren't sure do a google search before unchecking it cause you don't want to uncheck antivirus or system procs.
You can also look at Start > Programs > Startup sometimes programs are listed here that are starting up but the first spot will take care of that...
Another thing to check is how much space you have left on your harddrive. Go into My Computer (double-click) > Right-Click on your C drive > Properties > and youwill see how much space you have left... I would also click on the Tools tab there and run scandisk and defragmenter.
If you're running low on space this will cause your comp to lock up and you will need to get another drive (like if you have less than 500megs left)
good luck.

go into control panel and check Power and Display, also check to see if the Monitor has an Energy Star on it, the way these PC's go green and save power is to shut down every 15 minutes depending on how its set up, the change the settings to 30 or 60 minutes
