I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.
-I'm an American.
-I'm a Patriot.
-I'm a Democrat.
-I believe in God.
-I believe in free speech, the right to vote, and freedom.
-I believe in America.
-I believe in equality.
-I'm registered to vote.
-I believe government should spend more money on health care.
-I am not a Socialist.
-I believe we're fighting terrorists in the wrong country.
-I believe our troops need to leave Iraq safely and at the right time.
-I don't believe George Bush is even close to being the greatest President ever.
-I still respect the President.
-I believe terrorism is a grave threat.
and
-I believe you're wrong when you tell me I am not American or Patriotic.
What more does it take for me to prove that I am American and Patriotic? I've said my Pledge of Allegiance so many times I am 100% sure I am an American. I'm proud to be one.

I listen to and respect the opinions of other people from different backgrounds, beliefs, and political parties. I just don't respect the opinions of people who continue to claim that Democrats are not American if they don't agree with Republicans. So yeah, that is an answer that I would be looking for. Thank you.

I agree, I shouldn't let radicals bother me, but it does. It insults me to think that other Americans would so degrade me and other very loyal, patriotic Americans like they do. Its almost as bad as racism if you ask me. I take this country and what it "stands for" seriously and I take my patriotism seriously. I wish others would do the same.
And yes, I am thinking of running for some kind of position in the future. I hate how government is working right now, Democrats and Republicans. We all need to be united as Americans and not divided as Democrats and Republicans. Nobody seems to care too much about that.

Lavrenti, you must be very stubborn. You still must think that I am not American...
Your first point: I think that burning or desecrating the flag of the US is disgraceful. However, you may show your disgust (not hatred) for what America stands for at any time however you want. Blame it on the framers.
2) I believe that war sometimes needs to be the answer, yes. In this case (9/11), I think so. In Iraq? No.
3) Discrimination in any way I don't agree with.
4) I don't like to say hateful things about anybody. I criticize, but don't degrade.
5) I think Conservative opinions are just as valid as Liberals or Democrats or anyone else, so long as you do the same. Conservatives have the same right to speak.
6) The ACLU can do what they want. They are working in the best interest of the country as they see it. They are the ones who fought for Senator Craig... Did you catch that?
7) I do think that Bill Clinton committed perjury... I do think that he was rightly not impeached.

And no, Bush and Cheney didn't plan or carry out any part of 9/11. The Saudi terrorists did for the most part. Why aren't we in Saudi Arabia fighting terrorists since 20% of the hijackers DIDN'T come from Saudi Arabia?

You obviously don't get what I am saying tehabwa... I am saying that I am patriotic and American despite all of these things. There are so many far-right wackos out there who keep telling me that I am anti-American because I think the way I do about health care, the war, Bush, my beliefs and so on. You sound like one of those people to me. But hey, I could be wrong.

Dude stop trying to defend yourself to these NeoCon fools.
You could cut off your own arm to show your love of this country...It doesnt matter to them. They will keep throwing out labels and insults like the mindless monkeys that they are. Don't bother.
That said, I am proud to have someone like you in the ranks of the Democratic party. YOU are a "Great American".

I believe that anyone who lives in America that believes in Freedom of Religion, Speech, Press and the like is an American. As you have fulfilled those requirements, I believe you are a good American, and I don't think anything less of you for not thinking much of President Bush. I personally am not happy with some of his decisions, but I like him as a president, because of most of his stances on issues, such as abortion, and the Iraq War. I don't think we should be there, but I also don't think we should just Cut and Run, like some more Liberal politicians have proposed.
That being said, 'Bromide-staining', you're an ***. I'm a conservative, and quite frankly, I'd say if you cut your arm off to show your love for America, you've got a serious misplacement of affection, but it's not as if I wouldn't care. But I also think that you shouldn't be calling me a mindless monkey. People like you make me sick. YOU are the reason some people don't like Democrats. Notice I don't say Dumbocrats, or Democraps, because I care.

Do you, like so many of your political compatriots:
- think that desecrating the US flag is a good way to express Freedom of Speech
- believe that regardless of who attacks us or how much damage is done that war is never the answer
- believe that discriminating against white people by use of Affirmative Action is a good thing
- say hateful or derogatory things about others just because you have the right to do so
- think that shouting down conservative speakers is a good way to observe First Amendment rights
- think that the ACLU, inspite of a few token cases representing conservatives who would rather not have their help anyway, works for the best interest of this country
- think that Bill Clinton did not commit Perjury or Obstruction of Justice because the Senate failed to punish him for it
- think that Bush/Cheney planned 9/11

I think basically your opinions and beliefs square with most Americans whether they be Democrats or Republicans. I am on the Conservative side of this argument and I agree with 95 percent of your arguments. What folks do not get is we are far more alike then we are different. For the most part we all agree on the basic objectives not only as Americans but as human beings. We just differ on how to get there. I never judge someone only on the basis of their party affiliations. I have been a big supporter of Joe Lieberman who I have always felt has the good of the country and his fellow man in his heart and I respect him immensely even during the time he was a registered Democrat. The man has more courage in his little finger then most politicians in D.C. on either side of the isle. Mostly the difference in sides is the degree of response to our enemies. The rest is open to debate as it should be. You don't have to prove anything to anybody especially to those on the far left or far right who can't tolerate anything but total ideological adherence to their tirades. They have already marginalized themselves. 95% of the rest of us determine the course of our country in the long run. Thank God and the framers of our country's future in the beginning.

Because the angel Gabriel told me that Jimmy Carter will become the Antichrist aka Dajjal (8th King in Rev. 17) and he will serve another term in office after the death of Obama (7th king). The angel Gabriel told me in Aug. 1973 when i was in Phillipsbrug, Montana that Jimmy Carter will become the Anti-Christ, and that he is going to change his name, and divorce his wife! Obama is going to die first and then the Anti-Christ aka Dajjal who was one of the previous 7 Presidents will take his place! Rev. 17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, [and] the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. All 7 kings were all alive until the death of Ronald Reagan June 5, 2004 when George W. Bush was in office ; 1. Gerald Ford 2. Jimmy Carter 3. Ronald Reagan 4. George H. W. Bush 5. Bill Clinton 6. George W. Bush.... is spoken of in the present tense (and one is) because until Reagan died (June 5, 2004) all 7 were alive! 7. Barack Obama.......and one is yet to come! He will die a few days after he raises taxes! Obama is also in Dan. 11:20 Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes [in] the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle. Rev. 17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

Glad to hear that you are one of the few that will admit to these things. However you claim your not a socialist but do you believe in universal healthcare? This is a socialist program. So is welfare.
I too do not thing Bush is the best president, but he is much better than Carter and several others in recent history. So he is not the worst either.
If you want to prove you are a patriot, stand up to those in your party that are leading them down the wrong path. We are not that far apart in seeing eye to eye, but sometimes the democratic rhetoric makes me ill.

Um, most of what you said is irrelevant to the question of your patriotism.
But then, most of what the wingnuts say about patriotism is completely wrong-headed.
Saying the pledge is irrelevant (people can SAY anything).
One needn't believe in God to be patriotic.
The threat of terrorism is as NOTHING compared to the threat we face from within: those who say, the pledge, wave the flag, and oppose every idea this country is supposed to stand for.
The terrorists can't destroy us; only we can do that.
(BTW, months ago I asked "How many American citizens are terrorists who hate America?" The most common answers I got were "all dems" and "all libs". If you expect to be able to reason with people like that, you live in La-La Land.)

You just made a contradictory suggestion of yourself.
It's like saying drunks are idiots while taking a shot of whiskey.
People all over the country feel and know that our government is incapable of doing anything right yet you guys think that they can manage your health and life. I respect the other statements that you had grouped with these two statements.

As long as you leave room in your mind and your heart for opinions that dissent slightly from some of your own, you sound to me like a very good American and a Democrat at the same time.
Is that the answer you were looking for?

Why is it you attack conservatives and republicans with some issue and go to the next paragraph and say you really don't believe that they all whatever? You seem to have some deep seated issues with your oppostion as well so don't be another one of those hypocritical 'hating but not hating' democrats!

Nicely said! Weirdly, this reminds me of how, during the Salem Witch Trials, one of the convicted men (a minister) clearly said the Lord's Prayer right before they hanged him, which was one of the first cracks in the public's belief in their superior position. Witches weren't SUPPOSED to be able to speak the Lord's Prayer flawlessly!
I can sing the Star Spangled Banner correctly, too.
