Well, no offense here, but "more smarter" is a grammatical redundancy even an average high school kid would have recognized 20 years ago. Many today cannot pass a 6th grade reading test, let alone write a coherent essay.
It may be argued that students are learning more about technology than before. But this technology, which previously did not exist, applies to their daily lives. Any monkey can learn to push buttons for rewards.
Analytical thinking, the ability to interpret and apply information, and general literacy, seem to be in rather short supply today. When my father went to high school they studied Latin! Today just common English is about all a teacher can hope to instill in students before gradutaion.

Ask the typical 14-20 year old to write a sentence with proper grammar, spelling and English. Chances are...it wont happen. With all the text messaging and such..the English language has been thrown under the bus. The educational systems and Parents lack of interest in young peoples education is appalling.

could be, they have better access to different things on the internet. they don't have to go to the library and have to look up in the book and than look for the book in aisle after aisle for information, they just go to search engines and type it up and they have what they need, all they have to do is type and press enter, and there is what they need...
