I left work two weeks before my due date, and returned to work the week my daughter turned 3 months old. She's still not sleeping through the night, though, or even sleeping for more than two hours at a stretch, so it's very tough getting up to go to work when I haven't had much sleep.

I'm due in February. I only get 6 weeks unpaid leave per my employer. We have less than 50 employees, so the FMLA (12 weeks, unpaid leave) doesn't apply to me. I don't plan to start my maternity leave until the day I go into labor! I want to spend that time off with my baby, not waiting for the baby to be born.

I went on maternity leave at 7 months. (she is 6 now)
I didn't go back to work with my daughter until she was 18 months old and ready for daycare.
I plan on working longer the next time we conceive and stayingout about the same length of time.
It is up to you and your spouse what is going to make the both of you comfortable.
Check into fmla see if your work is involved in that from what I understand you can take up to 12 weeks leave and they have to hold your position.

I was 38 weeks pregnant. I worked and got sent to the hospital to be induced that same night. So, I worked up until I had him.
I took 10 weeks off. My husband and I work for the same company so we have to share our FMLA. I had a total of 12 weeks and he took 2 weeks to help me take care of our son as I recovered from my C-Section and the infection that I had gotten.

They gave me 6 weeks Post-partum, and I left when I was 34 weeks because I was standing a lot and it was bad for me and my baby. I ended up not going back...there's no way I could leave her with a stranger! I'm glad I made that choice. Most people don't leave till 38 weeks, or some work up until their due date. It depends on what you think you can handle, or what your Dr. says!

I ended up taking 7 weeks off (I work for family, so it's a bit more lenient :) I didn't take off work until I had my baby cuz I work an office job and had no problems. I did call in sick 1 1/2 days prior, cuz I didn't feel well, and it ended up because baby was on it's way!

I was planning on taking two weeks before my due date to prepare, but ended up going out 4 weeks before. He came a week late & I was only able to stay home with him 6 weeks after birth. So a total of 11 weeks & it was definetly not enough time.
If you have a choice & are in good health, I suggest working up till a couple days before you are due.

I'm a nurse & I was still able to work 5 days a wk even when I was 9 mos pregnant already. I was planning to quit working 1 wk before my due date but then my waterbag broke during my day off 2 wks before my due date. I was ok & I even drove myself to my OB for checkup. I was induced & had ceasarean delivery. My wound healed quick as what my OB said & I was ready to go back to work after 3 mos but then we relocate. I know some were able to go back to work after 2 mos., it's up to you but at least 4 mos when baby sleeps longer @ night already.
