Public Transportation in the us is in many instances is run by the city , county governments, usual at a loss. We don't use it as much as Europe.does

Your options are very limited. Airlines and automotive manufactures. The rest are government run. Among the automotive manufactures, Toyota is a decent bet. Among the airlines, I would not give 2cents for the whole kitten ka boodle. Too capital intensive, too subject to fuel costs. And worst of all, splat one airplane and it can ruin the company.

If you are interested in transportation that does not currently haul the public there are some possibilities. The railroads. 7x as efficient as trucks. 50x as efficient as airlines. NSC, BNI, UNP, and CSX are your major choices. Although these rails do not provide public transportation directly, they provide rails for Amtrak, the worthless excuse of a public rail transportation service. Also the only means of transportation capable of transporting without the use of oil. They can run on electricity which can be provided by non oil sources.
