A lot of people say Marvin Harrison, but I don't think he's the best choice. He's already 35, and he's still about 9,000 yards away from catching Rice. Even if he continued to average almost 1,400 yards like he put up last season, he'd have to do it until age 42, which is asking too much. I know he could put up some big seasons, but it's unlikely given that he didn't even crack the 1,300-yard move in the three seasons before 2006.

If I had to pick an active receiver, I'd probably go with Torry Holt over Randy Moss. I think Moss is the more electric player, and I don't think anyone playing right now is better, but Moss is such a speed guy that I can't see him sustaining it for another decade. As for Torry Holt, he's averaged about 1,500 yards per season over the last seven years. I doubt he can keep that up, but if he did then he would approach Rice's record while in his late-30s. I think Holt has a better shot than Moss only because Holt relies less on speed than he does on running sharp routes, a skill that doesn't diminish much with age. I also believe that Holt has an incredible work ethic and doesn't become distracted at times like Moss.

Realistically, I don't think Rice has anybody to worry about at this point. If forced on the point, though, I'd go with Holt.

That could be the beat?

Dont know what that means. Marvin harrison is the closest WR that has a chance, only because of Peyton Manning though.

If I understand what you are trying to ask, no one. Even the great Art Monk is not Jerry Rice's equal and he is the only one to ever come close.
