Had a difficult time finding any smaller publishing companies on google search engine. Seemed to mainly come up with the big publishing companies or paid advertisements for self-publishing services.

That is because surfing the net isn't the way to find publishers. Either purchase a copy of Writers Market or go to the library and use Literary Marketplace in the reference section. The sites online that list publishers are for the most part paid services. If you want, you can join one for a monthly fee. You have to be careful with small publishers. Make sure you check them out with Absolute Write Water Cooler's Bewares and Background Checks and Preditors and Editors. A lot of them are hanging on by a thread and still others are not legit. As an author you need to learn to advocate for yourself and checking out publishers is part of your job. It will keep you from being burned. Pax - C

No. You would have to go with small-press publishers and independent-press pubs. There are no smaller, TRADITIONAL publishing companies that I am aware of.

Not since everything got swallowed up by the big houses over the last six years--after 9/11.

Try this search engine link for independent press companies:

http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&fr=slv8-adbe&p=independent%20press%20companies

You may only get a few. But a few's better than NONE at all.

Small press companies:
