Wake me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham!
Just Because
I also think that anything by Banarama and Duran Duran makes me feel like trippin' back to the 80s too!

My vote goes to "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds because it was the theme song to the quintessential movie of the '80's -- "The Breakfast Club."

It could be a variety songs for a variety of reasons.
One take: "White Lines" by Grand Master Flash.
Ironically a song that was meant to warn people about the danger of the ever rising popularity of cocaine in the 80's was took as a party song that actually fueled the craze. Even the writer admitting using while writing this song...

Tainted Love - Soft Cell
Synth pop was big in the 80s with British bands making a big impression in the USA.
This track was probably the best example. I never get sick of it and I always think of the 80s whenever I hear the song.

"Video killed the radio star"- The Buggles
It was the first video on Mtv and rightly so. It was in the 80's (and MTV helped) that music transformed into a whole new way that we view and listen. CD's became popular and upped the demand for higher quality music, a video must accompany any hit (thus the need for attractive singers), etc...

Money For Nothing - Dire Straits
Because it sums up the decade. The MTV Generation. The idea that you could have whatever you wanted for doing nothing much.

Welcome to the Jungle by Guns n' Roses.....it brought popular music out of the pathetic state it was in and started it back on a path where you actually enjoyed turning the radio on and listening.
