In the light of day I think they are silly- but I'll tell you, when I was in Ireland...
I went to a ring fort alone, in the middle of the day. I walked all around it once, looking at everything and taking like a 1/2 hour. Then I left. I took a few steps away and then thought, "why not circle it again I'm not ever coming back" and turned around. This time I saw 2 crows, one lying dead right by the entrance and one sitting next to it and cawing at me. I LEFT SOOOOO FAST! I feel like my superstition about that was probably a good thing. You know what those gdd@mn Irish fairies are like...!

It depends on how you define your terms... Taking "valid" to mean "more or less true", then I think by the definition of the word, superstitions are not valid.
Others may take the word "valid" differently, meaning " Is it OK to think these things? "... in which case, it may seem harmless enough. However, I think these things can never be completely harmless.
If you are asking something to the effect of "Is walking under a ladder really unlucky?", then the answer is of course not (unless something gets dropped on your head!) ... superstitions are just our over-active pattern finding instincts misfiring.

Superstitions, if you look at them in context, are based in both hope and fear: hope that a previously experienced posititve can be duplicated if all the proceedures used before are repeated, fear that ill effects may follow any deviation from what worked last time. While that may not be logical, the intent is valid.

No, I don't. Whenever I see a ladder on the street I pass under it just for fun. I have never been particularly unlucky.
Actually, I do not believe in luck. Everything is a chain of causes and effects. Sometimes, we cannot understand all the little causes that affect our life so we call it luck or bad luck.

I am neutral on the subject but what I don't understand is if superstitions are invalid then why don't they either diminish or die out altogether? Another thing is incredible coincidences that there is no explanation for.

Nope, most superstitions are there to try and reason with something people are unable to understand, or they are there for control.

Certainly not! Some people want to believe all sorts of rubbish, but if one is objective, he can see superstitions are absurd.

They are valid if you make them valid. If you are constantly afraid that something will happen to you, you tend to draw in the energy that something will happen to do. Then it becomes a sort of "see! This happened because I didn't do xxxxxx!" and it's a self perpetuating cycle. Kind of like a sick placebo effect. lol

no. my mom says when you tell everyone your plans and people are jealous and wish you bad, your plans get ruined, so it is better not to tell anyone. Is that a superstition?
