I think it means. People who act like everything is worthy of intensity. Too much emotion. Kind of the way you feel during certain times of the month, Only all of the time.

Yes, emo is short for emotional. But I usually see it used as refering to depressed, or melancholy peopel. Thos absorbed in their pain, or the pain of others.
So how's things? Are you mopin' around? Oe do the others just not get you?

Emo generally means emotional, however it often specifically means someone who is overly angsty and melodramatic. Can be accompanied by copious and unnecessary quantities of crying.

It's being excessively emotional and proud of it. They even wear pink clothing, slash their skin, put staples in their skin and other acts of self-destruction. They cry a lot and are ultra-senitive to any remarks, questions or actions They keep in close touch with other emos.
It is prevalent among teens, and they eventually get over it.
