f(x + h) = 2 (x + h) ² + 5(x + h)
f(x + h) = 2(x ² + 2 h x + h ²) + 5 x + 5 h
f(x + h) = 2 x ² + 4 h x + 2 h ² + 5 x + 5 h
f(x + h) = 2 x ² + (4 h + 5) x + (2 h ² + 5 h)

f(x) = 2x^2 +5x
f(x+h)=2(x+h)^2+5(x+h)
=2(x^2+2xh+h^2)+5x+5h
=2x^2+4xh+2h^2+5x+5h

When you have f(...) means that you have to REPLACE the x of the equation with (...) that is mentioned.
Example:
If f(x) = 2.x; then f(a) = 2.a

Therefore, if f(x) = 2.(x)^2 + 5.(x)
then f(x+h) = you get it...
