A Bluetooth kit is quite expensive. And really was out of my budget. (A kit, with installation..etc can run up to $1,000).

On my E46, I've used a combination of:
- An auxilary input unit; USA Spec DF-BMW (Circuit City in-store clearance $24.99)
- A Jabra BT325s (Fry's in-store clearance $29.99)

To make it work, your car must NOT have a CD changer. If it does, you'll need to disconnect it.

My car has no CD changer.

I also use XM radio extensively on my car.

I have been using the DF-BMW aux in for my XM radio all the while, but recently, I discovered the BT-325s.

Hooking my XM radio to the BT-325s, then to the DF-BMW allowed me to listen to my music, when a call comes in, it automatically switches to the phone and cuts the music off.

When the call completes, it switches back to the music again... really cool... and best thing is... it's dirt cheap and works great!

Both these items are still currently available from the places listed. But get them soon because they are both on clearance!

All that "Prewired for..." means is that the internal wiring for the device is already ran for that particular device. You will still need to buy the control module for that option.

Its like this... Your car also says "Prewired for BMW CD Changer" but it won't work unless you buy the CD changer unit and install it in the trunk. The wiring is already in the car to run the signal from the trunk to the headunit. You just need to fork over the $700 for the CD changer itself. If it were me, I'd go for the IPod kit for $150 but I'm just rambling now.

Your MY may have the option of installing the bluetooth module so you can use the two buttons on your steering wheel but I've heard that the kit is above $400. If you really want a speakerphone option, you might want to consider one of those Motorola stand alone bluetooth speaker phone units. Those are only around $70.

The 02 model is pre wired for a bmw phone that is no longer available. Try to wait for a bluetooth adapter or something along those lines.
The bmw phones are obsolete and worthless analog phones.
