As in autism, treatment of AS is essentially supportive and symptomatic. Special educational services are sometimes helpful, although there is, as yet, very little reported experience on the effectiveness of specific interventions. Acquisition of basic skills in social interaction as well as in other areas of adaptive functioning should be encouraged. Supportive psychotherapy focused on problems of empathy, social difficulties, and depressive symptoms may be helpful, although it is usually very difficult for individuals with AS to engage in more intensive, insight-oriented psychotherapy. Associated conditions, such as depression, may be effectively treated.

Despite the paucity of published information on intervention strategies and issues, a few guidelines may be offered based on informal observations made by experienced clinicians, intervention strategies used with individuals with high-functioning autism, and Rourke's suggested interventions for individuals with Nonverbal Learning Disabilities syndrome.

Well, just to help everyone out:

Aspergers Syndrome is a kind of form of autism. As usual, with autism, the person has trouble developing social links with people. They arent stupid though, they usually have very strong talents in one field... like math, or art, or science... etc. They are veyr good at one certain thing, but socially they are very behind.

A good film to watch on Aspergers Syndrome would be Mozart and the Whale. It is a love story, so its not some boring documentary, but it makes you see what life is like with that sickness.

Anyways, I think that you should keep trying to support her through this, and seek help, and dont give up.

I would be open and honest with my partner. Please do not sell them short in the compassion department and do not sell yourself short on needing just that kind of support in the future. There are support groups that I would join with him and I would find a therapist to help with the emotional and sometimes behavioral issues that arise from side effects of medications...with support and love you will get through all this and it might bring you closer than you have ever been

No if you really love someone you don't leave them because they have an illness. Asperger is a mild form of autism... I would probably think real hard about having kids but I wouldn't leave my spouse because of it.
