For those of you who asked:

-i was a heavy equipment operator in the army from 2001-2007 (served in iraq 2004-2005)

-24' box truck driver for a total of 2 years in downtown cleveland, oh and omaha, ne

-otr tractor trailor driver for a year and a half now

=======================

It's annoying to me how so many of you think that it's the other people who are bad drivers when the truth is that 99.999% of you are bad drivers and yet you think you are good which makes you even more dangerous.

Some reasons why motorcycle riders are idiots:

-wear matching outfits
-drive around acting like they are tough when they arent at ALL
-BUY the tough guy image
-loud exhaust that says "look at me... PLEASE, look at me, I so desperately want someone to look at me"
-not real, most motorcycle riders are fake (including you)

I'm guessing you're referring to the element of risk involved with ridding a motorcycle in city traffic and on open highways. My guess is you don't have to be an idiot to realize, but then again, that pretty much everyone ridding understands the risks that come with being on a motorcycle.
My guess would be that most accept these risks as part of the enjoyment they get from ridding. The people they know and meet, the places they go and situations they enjoy. They opt to break out of the "glass bubble" and live life. If the fear of injury is the basis of your question than no one could drive a car, hike in the woods, water ski, snow ski on and on. Hell you won't even be safe in your own house as so many serious accidents occur in the bathroom.
Come on, take a chance. Leave your bedroom in your moms house and come out in the real world. Live life instead of just existing. I'm pretty sure you're going to die someday no matter what precautions you take.

Revisited your question and missed your point. From your repeated reference to "tough guy" I feel you are threatened by motorcyclists. I also question your authority and experience to determine who may be an idiot. But to gather accurate statistics you could do as I do when falling victim to road rage. Flip the perpetrator off, relay your dismay and signal them to pull over to the side of the road. If you pick yourself up out of the dirt a little bloody, that was one of the "tough guys". If you don't that wasn't!

YOU HAVE ISSUES!!! Its seems you have all motorcycles riders stereotyped. There are many types of riders and the image of riders have changed over the years. There are business men, veterans, social groups and many more. And motorcycle groups do alot for charities. I am just starting to learn about motorcycles and will get one in a few months after learning to ride safely and responsibly. After I get my bike I will be proud to call myself a biker and proud to join millions of others who enjoy riding and the freedom of the open road. I hope I do not see you on the road! With your attitude you are a danger to bikers and everyone else on the road. Ever consider therapy? AND just for your information-- I also was in the army where I drove everything from a duece and a half to 5 tons, and have driven a semi most of my life since then. So you don't impress me! You are no better than anybody else, especially bikers!!! And did I mention I was also a deputy sheriff? Your question has outraged alot of people and I hope you get put in your place by others besides myself!!!!! REPLY???

The day I first discovered to journey my boyfriend tried to instruct me on our SV650 I had a demanding time determining a thank you to softly deliver the trottle lower back and go without stalling the motorcycle. It took me around 3 hours after he went interior for a drink that I have been given the carry close of it. My best undertaking became into i became into attempting to do it awsome the 1st time instead of comprehend-how that i became into gaining information of and that is okay to not p.c.. up on it acceptable away. as quickly as I went to the motorcycle protection classification I had some adventure with the driving ingredient so it became into undertaking-free on the little motorcycle (even the day after having a bone faraway from my wrist... nevertheless in stiches and the bandages). I watched the quite a few people who had by no skill ridden before dealing with the subjects I had as quickly as I first began. by using the 2d day everybody became into in a position to place the 1st day's coaching to prepare. So it would desire to look like your going to by no skill get it yet you will determine it out merely dont be fearful of being embarassed. the only man or woman who could make you sense embarassed is you so go in with the alternative which you will try this and additionally you will make errors alongside the way yet you're gaining information of so that is okay.

As Robin Williams would say to Tyson, Up the dosage.

I have riden for 30 years, and agree that most16-20 year old riders need to learn respect.

But I have lived through those years and have my scares. I live in Memphis and see 24" wheel 1978 cutlass supremes pass me 80, cutting and weaving.

So, Please do not say that only bike riders are crazy....

Plus, the damn wheels on that car cost more than the car.

No, but most truck drivers are. Most that drive trucks on the interstate drive as though they're out to see how many people they can run off the road. Constantly cutting people off so they can pass another truck but when they get in the left lane they slow down and take miles to pass the truck they just had to get in the left lane to pass. At the same time purposely trying to piss off as many other people on the road as they can. Pulling over into traffic with no regard whether someone is already in that lane or even if their truck has space to fit. Basically bullying their way down the road. I was on I-80 going around the south end of Lake Michigan this summer. A portion of the road had either 5 or 6 lanes of traffic, can't remember exactly. There was a truck in every lane except one, riding in formation so as to block any vehicle from passing them and to just slow up traffic and again piss people off. Why? When drivers get pissed off they do strange things which usually means the smallest vehicle out there (i.e. motorcycles) take their fallout. I wish you hadn't said you were a truck driver after you asked that stupid question. I could go on all night. Motorcyclists are not idiots, truck drivers are, by the way they drive and now, by the questions they ask. I respect you and thank you for your service in Iraq, but get that chip off your shoulder.

Not Most.
In fact most people who ride do so to enjoy a feeling of freedom that can not be had behind the wheel of a car or truck. The simple act of waving to a oncoming motorcyclist and receiving a nod or wave from the other rider speaks volumes of information to the riders. These folks have a respect for one another and the other people who share the road with them, and are in fact, the ones most people don't see..., until it's too late.

But Some
However, are riders who have more in common with snakes then other riders. These riders will ride at breakneck speeds, split lanes at dangerously high speeds, pull wheelies on crowded freeways, and do "stoppies" in traffic to prove their worth or lack there of. Endangering his/her life and the lives of the people around them as well never even enters their hollow heads. Thankfully, they are few in number. These we call the Darwin Award nominees.

Additional to your rant.
Hmmm, sounds like someone has a chip on his shoulder. All you can prove with this attitude is that you are another self righteous know it all who will get nowhere in life. It troubles me that you have a CDL and travel the same roads as I do.
Relax, life is to short to get so badly bent out of shape.

actually, the squids are.....they're the moron's with zero saddle time/experience, and for their first bike, they get a 1000cc or higher rice rocket. then they go out and try to imitate the sr-71 blackbird on 2 wheels, riding at insane speeds on the street that even a professional rider would think twice about doing. its these morons that give the sane riders a bad rap.

i know squids will thumb this down, but if ya dont like it, start riding with a brain in ur head. if u want to ride at 115, take it to the track where a cager wont smoke u.

Some are, some are not. There are idiots all over the world, many have never seen an actual motorcycle.

I ride, and I am definitely no idiot (not perfect, but far from an idiot).

What's your issue with motorcycle riders?

I shouldn't dignify this with an answer.
Unfortunately, I just did.

No, they are not. They are people who generally want a little more out of life.

In most cases, they are much brighter than the average auto driver who barely qualifies to pilot an automatic box on wheels.
