This is a 460 big Block Ford from 1970. I thought it was a stuck lifter causing my pushrod to bend, but it is not, the intake valve is stuck (spring almost completey compressed). Any suggestions for freeing? I am tapping on the valve stem with a mallet, I am also trying to pry the spring up. I have it soaking in penetrating oil right now. Anyway of doing anything through the spark plug hole?

Honestly, the best thing is to do is to pull of the head and check out what is causing the valve to stick closed.

With the head off, you can remove the valve spring with a valve spring compressor, and see what's causing the valve to stick.

I would be looking more into timing, what are the chances all the valves are stuck to provide no compression?Highly unlikely also for fun try doing a wet compression test to make sure the compression rings are not a cause. Not sure if bad heads are common with those as well , gl

Grab the top of the spring retainer with a pair of vise grips and spin the valve while pulling upwards

Take it apart, the valve is bent and trying to pull it up will just damage the valve guide.

If you can get atight fit you might try shooting compressed air in through the spark plug hole , otherwise you've got bases covered...

its bent..noway
if it stayed open when the piston came up ...its over

on the positive side .. i have pulled one head by just taking off one side of the intake and loosening the other side. just silicon the intake area on the side you removed when you go back together. saves pulling the entire intake manifold
