They waste time and money by playing politics instead of addressing the issues that need to be dealt with such as the recent "resolution" to condemn MoveOn.org for a political ad...but do you know that there was a second resolution?
"Obama, Clinton and Dodd voted for an alternative resolution offered minutes earlier by Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. That resolution condemned political attack ads, including those that questioned the patriotism of Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., and former Sen. Max Cleland, D-Ga., both Vietnam veterans. It failed 50-47."
As is typical of the Republican party, they are playing partisan politics where they condemn others of practicing the same tactics that they themselves use. (can anybody say "Swiftboat")

Exactly! Have all of America's other problems been fixed? Health care has risen 4000% in a decade and they've done nothing not even vote to condemn it. This vote was nothing more than a tacky display of grandstanding and a waste of taxpayer money.

No, I most certainly did not know that there was an alternative resolution offered. And that it failed 50-47.
Isn't that special.
Thanks for the info. I will never cease to be shocked and amazed at how lowdown and dirty our elected reps are willing to go.

The Democrats were elected to stop the Dictator Dumbya Big Lie Iraqi Crusade. If we need more elected Democratic troops in Congress to do that, so let that be the people's mission.

Democrats would have looked like fools for trying to condemn the Swiftboat Vets because they were right.
Moveon.org on the other hand is blatantly slanderous of a real veteran and hero, and Congress knows it.

Congress as an entire has quite low approval scores. that consists of contributors of the two events. the guy contributors of Congress have plenty bigger approval scores between the parts of their own districts.

One of my favorite George Will quotes:
"Given the conduct of Congress, it is hardly surprising that many Americans are tempted to trade self-government for rule by appointed judges. Congress is invariably untidy and frequently vulgar, irrational, venal, cowardly, mendacious, and pandering -- as in the Bork battle. ...."

Obstructionist republicans still doing what they have always done.
And the Dems are letting them get away with it - they should be forcing them to filibuster.
Strange how the media that was always so quick to point out dems filibustering completely ignores when republicans do it...

Hypocrisy is running amok in the Republican party. It is going to cost them dearly in the election next year.

Your late, this has been beaten to death already! Swift boat was a group of veterans attacking a veterans claim. Moveon attacked a current General before he even spoke on a mandate made from said congress, questioning his loyalty. Huge difference, and I am sorry you miss that.

The people are upset because Congress isn't standing up enough against Bush and his right-wing corporatism.
