Room rates in LV are not static. It's not unusual for room rates to vary 100%-400% from one week to the next.
Without knowing the exact date, I can't give you a price range on rooms.
The Orleans is a really nice place and it's a little over 1 mile West of the MGM on Tropicana Ave
http://www.orleanscasino.com
The Orleans has a free shuttle to the strip & over to the Palms/Rio/Gold Coast area.
>The CAT bus stops right in front of the Orleans if you want to ride back & forth to the MGM($2.50 for a 24hr pass)
My two favorite sites to check LV room rates
http://www.travelworm.com
http://www.hotels.com
LV resort web sites
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/referenceguide-hotels.cfm
Many LV hotels will price match >The Orleans is one that will, no question ask. Just tell them the date you need and where you found the rate.

Hotel pricing in Vegas is very favorable right now. I suggest looking at some of the hotel promo code websites to find a good deal that will fit your needs. Depending on your budget, I recommend considering places like Monte Carlo, Luxor, Excalibur, or even Hooters which are all at one end of the strip. You can also find some decent deals for Flamingo and Treasure Island which are more mid-strip.

If you want to be near MGM Grand, there is a Super 8 hotel across from it, on Tropicana and Koval lane. Sorry, but the price might be a tad over $100 ... about $115 . Check it out on http://www.travelworm.com .

Try hooters on Tropicana. They have had decent rates lately. A bit tacky but at least they admit it.
You will have fun and it is right across the street from the MGM.

Check with a travel agent on both nights at a decent hotel.
They can find you a package for 2 nights that will probably
be less than you are paying already.

Call the hotel direct and ask. Remember, hotel rooms are a perishable commodity. If they don't rent them, they won't make up that revenue.
