If they could not swim that could of been a problem. Which would answer why they just standed there and called for assistance.
But if they could swim, What do you think?
DISCIPLINED?,
FIRED?,
MANSLAUGHTER?
OTHER?
What do you think?

I have only read the news on one site which was yahoo.
PCSOs 'watched him drown'
It was on the main home page.
The quicker you get someone out of the water, The higher the chance of that person surviving.

It's beyond belief that they did and I'll never be able to comprehend it. Are they human beings I have to ask myself,as nobody I know could act in such a manner. As for a punishment I'll have to vote "other" as words fail what I would do to them. PS were they two of Browns 16 years old front line.

As several people here have said, jumping randomly into dangerous situations like this is a complete no go and anyone in public service sector like PCSO's is taught as part of their induction to their training the appropriate way to behave. If you can't see a victim to rescue you are increasing risk of others having to rescue you by going in. A few years ago now I believe at least 3-4 people drowned including members of police force when a dog got into difficulty on a beach, owners of dog got into difficulty, police did the same and in the end only survivor was the dog!
This was a tragic event, there will be an inquest but stepping back from a whipped up media, the verdict should be one of accidental death. It may highlight the need to advance the training of PCSO's in this type of situation but they didn't have that level and should not be made to feel at fault. Although I suspect they will be haunted by this for some time to come no mattter what any one else tells them.

Were you physically present? If not you do not have a clue about the conditions while the rescue attempt happened. If your were there why did not you jump in and save the kid.
People if you have never done SAR then kindly keep your mouths shut. My shipmates and I put our lives on the line every time we went on a rescue run. I lost 9 shipmates in the 4 years I was on the USCGC Rush. (4 dead and 5 physically disabled for life)
Volunteer for the rescue squad if you do not think they are good enough!

READ IT.
They arrived AFTER the boy had vanished underwater.
They called for the help they would need.
The officers DID NOT watch as the boy drowned.
Whilst most of the population would have jumped in no matter what the circumstances, the police are under legal constraints about what they are allowed to do.

As sad as this is i can see there point, imagine if they made a mess of the rescue, and the boy died, they would have been sued to hell,....where there's blame there's a claim brigade would have got them.....
Personally i would have dived straight in and stuff the con sequencers

NONE of the above, the child should not have been out of it's depth and clearly they could not do anything about it, it is not their fault.
And as for the parents who are blaming them saying they just stood and watched, maybe they should have taught their child better or been there themselves and not tried to pass blame.

They did NOT watch as he drowned. The child had already disappeared under water by the time they got there. He was already dead. Just read the facts. Don't play games.
