Seriously, if this general is telling the truth then why not arrest him when he comes to NY next week? Why not toss him over to Gitmo and let him wait his military tribunal and punishment like the other terrorists.

Some answered International Law. Since when did Iran care about any law? I say, let him go anywhere he likes but dispatch a few Marine snipers to follow him.

He is a Democratically elected President. The US has no authority over him. If we put him in gitmo and deprive him of due process like the rest of the detainees, we would lose any credibility with anyone in the world who still trusts us. After that our diplomats or citizens for that matter would no longer be safe in any other country in the world. If this general is telling the truth and has proof, there is an international body to handle this.

His entire person is considered under diplomatic immunity, not just his car and the UN. Plus, what good would it do to arrest one more insane dictator? We obviously won't get thanks for it. Maybe someone smart -- a vigilante type -- will take matters into his/her own hands while he's here, but the government of the US would be blamed for it and Iran would have plenty of reason (and support from other hostile nations) to attack us.

You might want to look up what the "New World Order" order was supposedly about. Bush Sr. understood it... If the UN start arresting Presidents Bush jr. better look out.

I think his diplomatic immunity extends to wherever he is in America .
However , I'd be interested to know if we could or would declare war while he's here and then take him to the dungeon !!
Then again , we're gonna take him out very soon anyway so let him go home where we already have him directly targeted for extinction .

If we set a precedent by arresting him, someone will surely arrest Bush, our diplomats, soldiers, etc. I know we're sure of our goodness and good intentions but everyone doesn't share our views. Actually, most people don't share our views.

Arresting him won't accomplish anything, because the Ayatollahs run Iran, not president Ahmanutjob! We need to take out Iran in a lightning attack. Destroy their navy, air force, missiles, oil pipelines, and of course their nuclear facilities. Right now, Iran is our worst enemy, and the enemy of Western Civilization. Take them out!!!

Diplomatic immunity --- if we mess with that, then any US official or ambassador in another country would similarly be subject to immediate arrest.
And in case you missed the Supreme Court holdings on the subject -- grabbing someone and tossing them in jail without evidence is a constitutional violation and a violation of federal law.

Diplomatic immunity.
We basically guarantee that he is free to come here so that he and Iran can be part of the UN, which we do want in place.
If we don't like him and want to arrest him, we should declare war.
