My mom keeps saying yogurt works well. I don't wanther telling me anything remotely reated to her menopause, but the enzymes in yogurt are suposed to help.
And flushes does sound a lil weird. I was going to make a similar joke about eating to many spicy foods or something.
I America I've only ever heard of Hot Flashes. Then again I'm a guy so what do I know.

Oh what a question. Hot flashes as they it. Go to a Health Food store and get some of the natural HRT I have tried the Black Cohosh but what I have found to be really good is sweet potatoe. which they say is the best natural food for women. Make sure your clothes are breathable ( avoid the synthetic fabrics)

You don't have to ask a vitamin store directly... the information is out there for the general population. Black Cohosh, Chasteberry (also called Vitex), Dong Quai, and Omega-6 fatty acids like those in Borage Oil and Evening Primrose Oil are all good for balancing out women's hormones during menstruation and through menopause.
There are also some phytoestrogens (plant hormones) that may effect your hormones, but a nutritionist or holistic doctor would be the best to ask what would be the best type (as different people have different responses to different supplements).
In reply to some of the other posts.... we actually say it wrong in America. What is a "hot flash"? It's a flushing of the skin.... that's what it's been called for hundreds of years before "hot flash" came around. I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone who mis-read the word and it caught on. LOL!
Also, Yogurt would only help for digestion and keeping a healthy internal ecology (like against yeast, which many women have problems with) because of the probiotics. They wouldn't help directly for the hormones causing the flushing.

Your local health food shop is a good place to go for advice on herbal remedies. Boots and Superdrug sell Soya Isoflavones which are soya based plant hormones and are supposed to help. Ive taken them but its difficult to know if they are making a difference or not as there seems to be no pattern to these flushes. Worth a try though, you have my sympathies hun.

I see an ND and this is what I take for my hot flashes. They stopped in 3 days. I take 2 with dinner each night. (magnesium citrate). It's cheap.

If that doesn't work, he suggested black cohosh.
GOOD LUCK!! :)

Black cohosh has been shown to help many people (it's even recognized by traditional medicine). I know some people that swear by the stuff.

If your GP is any good he/she will advise you what to try, personally they never worked for me, I've tried everything and ended up on HRT, it's been great for me but everyone is different so good luck with whatever you choose
