Its nice until you encounter a specific group of people that do something stupid that end up making an entire culture/race of people look negatively on that specific race/culture. So therefore, more diversity means people will be more sensitive to others (due to realizing other people are individuals) and people will be more considerate and open-minded towards others in the long run.

Diversity is neither here nor there. I do not subscribe to the opinion that diversity improves something just by showing up. What other people do or what traditions they observed in other countries is interesting. It is not particularly important.
Understanding what makes America, America is important. What makes America strong is striving for excellence not looking to include diversity.
We accept immigrants from all over the world. They are welcome here TO BECOME AMERICANS not to turn this country into the one they ran away from. We, as a nation, need to spend a lot more time teaching American Culture to immigrants and a lot less learning about theirs.

diversity simply means more than one of something
with that criterion America is diverse
as to the issue of whether or not people like it is another story
i am sure the majority of people here wish the country was more homogenous
but it is not
all sides need to concede something
my study of MLK taught me that
like most of my generation i thought he was the biggest fool ever
after how poorly our people had been treated for centuries until about 1963 i felt we should have been killing not making concessions
i feel the same way for Native Americans (even more so as this is really their land) and women
but this is not correct
people feel my people have it easy because we can vote and there are a few athletes and entertainers who make some money
all the while knowing they don't want to live, work, intermarry, or socialize with my people...yet supposedly, racism is dead
diversity training was seen and is still viewed with disgust
and most of it is just for show
it does not get to the heart of the issues at hand, anymore than the Civil Rights movement or the abolition of slavery did

There is plenty of diversity, and yet there are still closed-minded, hateful people out there. So basically, it serves no purpose yet, but it needs to be continued so maybe one day, people will stop being prejudiced.

That is the whole idea of America, on big nation with people from different countries, with different beliefs, pursuing their goals and living together in harmony.
I understand it is not always true, but there is hope.
