Because of the left wing biased media. They don't want to hurt their left wing agenda. I do hear about it, just not from the main stream media.

Great question...

1. Congress always has a lower approval than the president. Why ? because there are two parties in congress....Dems and Reps... this leaves you with the possibility of a small percentage of moderate/independant/or unafilliated people having a "VERY favorable opinion of congress".
2. "Democratic Congress"...is a play on words. The polls being touted in the media by conservatives are polls on congress AS A WHOLE !...so whether or not the Democrats control congress by one seat is inconsequential to that argument. When congress is polled by party...the Dems lead approval by double digits on all major issues, with the exception of one issue... "national security" where they are trailing by a couple points.

ok - The Senate isn't democrat controlled. the home is - extremely. Approval rankings for Congress are continuously under the president - and in case you bothered to rather seem on the polls you will possibly see that Republicans in congress are polling under Dems in congress. maximum individuals nonetheless have faith the Dems greater, the two interior the White abode and the Capitol.

Its actually an 11% approval rating for Congress.

You hear more about the President because the media wants it that way. NOBODY in the media has yet taken the Democratic majority to task for doing none of the things they had promised in order to win that election. But Americans know what's going on in spite of the media. Therefore, the do-nothing Congress has an 11% approval.

Democrats got so excited because their party won a majority. But don't get too used to it. The inaction of the democratic leadership in Congress will cost them the important election in '08.

It's big news where I am. Maybe you're watching the liberal media? ;-) j/k

There are always "favorite" stories that news programs follow. Whatever gets the most viewership will be reported. If people don't care to hear about it, it won't make it to the news. And how many people want to hear that, even though they think Bush is a bad president, the Congress has performed even more miserably? After crushing Bush for so long, it appears they are in a rut. You have to look to find the "truth" by always selecting more than one news show and one newspaper to read. Most of the "informed" public stays that way because they don't believe everything they hear and seek news from many sources.

Maybe your area will soon be enlightened about Congress, but -- like I said -- it's big news where I am (Southeast US).

Uh, that's 'Congress has an 11% approval rating'. And Democratic is what the Democrat party likes to call themselves. Be sure and call them the Democrat party, as we don't want to attribute more virtue to them than they deserve.

And the reason we don't hear about horrible a job the country thinks Congress is doing, is because it doesn't fit the template of 'Let's make George W. Bush look bad!"

I hear it all the time along with Bush's approval rating. Go to Fox News if you want to only hear Congress' approval rating

Because The Republican Congress only had a 16% approval rating a year ago (see link)? Bet you won't hear that on Fox.

It isn't really news, Congressional approval rating is ALWAYS low. People generally like their own senators/reps, but to give blanket approval to "Congress" would mean endorsing partisan pols from the other party.

BTW, was Fox regularly reporting the miserable ratings of the Republican congress? Of course not, but now all of a sudden they're interested.

The liberal press reports on the things they want us to hear; the other stuff is ignored. Bush's approval rating is low but he has done some good things, too. He is constantly bashed for anything he does; he is blamed for everything, including hurricanes!! It is ridiculous. I don't approve of everything he has done and disapprove of some things very strongly but, given the alternative, I am happy we got him. At least he has morals and is trying to do what he thinks is right for the people. Congress fights the Republicans every single step of the way, no matter what; if it is a Republican issue and could be good for the Country, they will vote it down. It is nuts!!!!!!!!! I wish people could think of the issues and give an honest opinion without having to go to the polls or to the party to see how they would feel about it. Use your own brain and make your own choices.

well for one thing, the Republicans can't decide on the percentage Congress gets, though they will admit it's apparently lower than Bush's.

And for another, you muct not come on here at the right time of the day. Whenever I come here all I ever see is a Republican comparing the approval rating numbers between Bush and Congress.

How come we keep hearing about Congresses 18 percent approval rating but not about the fact that the Democrats in Congress have a 45 percent approval rating and the Republicans in Congress have a 9 percent approval rating?
