Parking at the stadium is easy and safe and cheap compared to boston anyway.
I would drive, I would not take my chances on the subway in ny especialy if i dont know the system.

The subway system is not as scary as it's made out to be. First of all the Yankees encourage their fans to take mass transportation, so it's not going to be you and a bunch of people that want to mug you. It's you and several hundred other yankees fans. Secondly unless you plan on spending a few hours after the game in the stadium you'll be leaving with everyone else, so you'll have safety in numbers (but be watchful of the contents of your pockets/bags).
It should be perfectly safe, I use the 4 and 5 lines all the time and can tell you they're perfectly fine. Don't pay anyone any mind and they'll give you the same courtesy. If you're just headed back to the city you have nothing to fear. If you're touring around the Bronx late at night, well, the subway will be the least of your problems.

Given the fact that the alternative is driving and getting rear ended by some drunk fan leaving the game, the Subway is a no brainer. Ive taken it several times, and I'm not from NYC at all - and have never had a problem, and its pretty damn obvious how to take it... follow the ten thousand fans with Yankee caps to the stadium.

yes take the subway to Yankee Stadium. it's the way most people get there. last time i went to the stadium, the train (for some reason) wouldn't go further than 1 stop south of the station , so everyone had to go up to street level and walk th rest of the way. i simply followed the crowd but if there was no crowd i guess i would have been a fish outta water

if you are looking to save money and headaches, take the 4,b or d train uptown to 161st street. The subway is relatively safe, especially when most of the people will be using public transportation and it will only cost you $4 round trip.
if you are going to drive, you will have the headaches of traffic on the major deegan and finding a parking lot with a reasonable price. Most parking garages are dark and you don't know who's lurking about

Hell yeah take the train. Perfectly safe. Driving in is the biggest hassle in the world. Plus, you can get hammered with all the other neanderthal Yankees fans.
