The interesting thing about Iran is that they were a pro-western republic that was non-violent for many years.

The current Iranian president was elected just a few years ago -- in direct response to the US invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. The Iranian people got scared because the US had invaded the two countries on either side of them -- and demanded a hard-line president to protect them from US. We created the situation we now fear.

And regardless of what speculation exists about Iran's motives or plans -- they have not directly attacked anyone anytime recently. And as a sovereign nation, they have every right to do anything they want inside their own borders -- just like the US does, and Britain, and Russia, and India and Pakistan, and .... not liking them is not valid grounds to attack them.

I think Bush and the president of Iran have alot in common.

Both are social conservatives, who believe in traditional values, are quite nationalist (aka patriotic), and believe the end of the world is near. Muslim fundies, however, believe it is the Mahdi not Jesus that is coming to save them.

Google Iran president university secular. Just a while back he cracked down on Iranian universities because he thinks he professors are too liberal and secular.

Who does that remind you?

He also asked "why dosen't the west have family values?" in response to the British sending women out to fight.

Who does that sound like?

Iran is a country opposed to us, but the source of that is the leadership. The people I've known from Iran are good people. No one has specifically claimed Iran has done anything, but accusations abound. Remember the 2003 invasion of Iraq: seek evidence, not accusations.

Actually, I have heard reports that mumahd, (sp?) is very unpopular especially amongst young Iranians (college age, mid twenties) and he is in constant fear of being overthrown.

Iran is a sh-t hole of a country, full of fanatical Islamic terrorists that wish to destroy western civilization, and keep women under oppressed control and all other religions banished.
