Absolutely. This really is the only legitimate way as a fan to refer to your team as "we", since you are or were a student at that school (unless you happen to own your own team).

In the unwritten rules of fandom, alma mater shoud come first.

The order of allowed loyalty is:

1) College team you played on
2) Pro team you played on (lower than college since you are a mercenary)
3) college you attended
4) hometown team -- must have grown up there or resided there later at least 5 years to avoid bandwagon status

5) childhood love other than home team -- only permitted if you grew up in a town withoout their own team to root for
6) school your offspring attends
7) tangential tie to team -- close relative or friend on the team
8) pure bandwagon

I pull for the team my boyfriend attended because he's brainwashed me. I went to a tiny private, liberal arts school, so there's not a whole lot of football team to root for there.

Nope. I went to Wichita State. They had a plane crash in 1970 that killed 31 football players and coaches. That was the end of the Wichita State football team. So, I root for Kansas State in football.

I sure do.
Not only that i follow my old highschool as well.
They won back to back State Championships.

As a matter of fact my highschool won a State Championship in the same year my old Jr. College won a Bowl Game , and my true Alma Mater , Northern Illinois University won the California Bowl. The same year that they beat Alabama down there.

Now there's a hat trick!!! lol

No, because the college I attended doesn't have a football team. (Sacred Heart University)

I "pull" for a school that I want to attend. But I will never.

I went to CU and cheer for them every weekend! The sign of a good, loyal fan is being there for your team even when they're at their worst. We lost a lot of scholarship money during the whole scandal era... Hoping we'll win a few this year. I also cheer for Michigan, my mom went to school there. Go Buffs! Go Blue!
