The Settlers of Catan, for several reasons: 1) No one is ever eliminated from the game. 2) Anyone 10+ years old can play. 3) It is easy to learn. 4) The game requires co-operation as well as competition. 5) If someone gets too far ahead, you can stop trading with him/her and everyone else can catch up. 6) It plays in less than an hour.

There are many other versions and expansions for the game, if your group of players is looking for a bit more diversity or challange.

Splat! - I got it for Christmas back in like 1990... honestly I don't know why its my favorite maybe because it was cute doesn't involve much thought and kids enjoy play doh?? sadly this game was discontinued & my original one got distroyed by water damage so my parents threw it out, however I did managed to buy it 10 years later on ebay - yay, for ebay... =)
