There's no right or wrong answer really. As well as how big you are, the cut of the top can be a factor, some give quite good support even for larger breasts, while others offer very little.

Personally I hate strapless bras so I would rather go without, or wear a halter style bra.

It really depends on how you "hold up" naturally... if you feel comfortable without a bra, like you're not going to fall out, then that's usually a pretty good measure. You can look into the Braza or pasties too - they even have completely backless bras... that way you wouldn't feel like you're letting it all hang out, but none of them would show under a halter... assuming you're asking because you already have a halter you want to wear... but if you're shopping for one, try to find one that has lined or slightly padded bust... most women can pull those off without a bra and/or the extra support.

Hope this helps!

If you really want to save money, you could go to a supermart and buy nursing pads. ($2++ for box of 6) Cut them to fit your halter top and use double sided tape to stick them to your top. Use ample tape to make sure the pads stick and don't shift. That way your halter top comes equipped with its own bra and you won't be pointing your nipples at people at the barbecue when the night gets chilly. My wife's nursing pads gave me the idea. Or you really should invest in a strapless bra since you are probably going to wear that halter top again.

It really depends; if you have a D cup definitely.
If you have an A or B cup you don't have to;
and it also helps if the halter is patterned:
When i wear my hawiiaan flowered halter i don't wear a bra even though i'm almost a B because my bra sticks out and it looks fine.

If you're on the smaller side of a B or less, then you could probably get away with going braless.

Otherwise, simply wear a strapless bra, a stick-on bra or a halter style bra.

if you are a b cup or bigger, it is never OK to not wear a bra. get a convertible bra or a strapless bra, which ever fits the halter. I prefer wearing a strapless bra

Most halter tops are meant to be worn without a bra.

i answer this as i would thinking of my daughter. unless you are very small, the answer is wear one or a different top and a bra.
now, as a guy "NO, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. NO ONE WILL EVEN NOTICE" and if you are dumb enough to fall for that line, i feel sorry for your father.
