Our sand stone house has too much grime on it. What would be the best way on cleaning it?

If it were brick or concrete, I would guess muriatic acid.

I suppose it would work with sandstone too, but you may wist to test on an out-of-the-way spot first.

I'd rent a pressure washer and go at it for a while, if that doesn't work, I would definitely stay away from muriatic acid aka hydrochloric acid as I beleive a major component of sandstone is calcium carbonate which will react with the acid as follows CaCO3(s) + 2 HCl(aq) --> CaCl2(aq) + CO2(g) + H2O(l).
