not so much halloween haunted house type music

but soft ane eerie...

maybe with bells/chimes?

Nox Arcana

American gothic horror musical group, formed in 2003 by Joseph Vargo (previously of Midnight Syndicate) and William Piotrowski. Their music has dark overtones and bears some stylistic resemblance to certain subgenres of New Age and Gothic music.

Look for the theme for the "BOO" series that was on TV. I found out later it is either the Rolling Stones or Elton John.
Find it.

See if you can find a video of what I am talking about. the series ran for years. Play that and see if it doesn't scare a child.

i had an lp a long time ago 'the private sea of dreams', by an Italian group Il Grupo. Penderecki has some really haunting stuff.

Many department and dollar stores have Halloween sounds and music that may do the trick. Some music stores may have what you want, too.
