For many far lefts, faulting America for the barbarity of others is a long entrenched mantra, but did this modern anti- Israeli disparagement begin with Carter?
You do know he identifies with people for whom playing with snakes and drinking poison is viewed as 'normalcy', don't you?

Ah, Q & A's! I see that a lot of people still have not learned to read, or don't take the time to read, or something.
As to the answer, it began in 1948! Liberals were screaming their heads off before the U.S. and Great Britain did their best the help the Hebrews/Jews get at least part of their lands back taken by totalitarian governments in the past.
Why would any one object to the monies going to Israel? They don't object to all the billions going south of the border to Mexico! At least Israel does a lot of things for the U.S. that we would not dare do on our own.
People need to realize that most people around the world, if they have time to think at all, hate the U.S. because we are successful; because we are rich; because we are capable (we are still the only ones to put a man on the moon!; most of modern-day inventions were made in the U.S. of A!) People hate those who succeed. People hate those who can get out and do things. People hate those who are different.
Get a gazeteer, folks, and check the population of Israel; check the population of those Muslim countries, and then explain why it is that the only "democratic" country, smaller than any Muslim country, is capable of kicking butt!
But, no, the anti-Israelis movement did not begin with Mr. Peanuts; it began the moment the Jewish state was re-formed. Get some good history books; the Gentiles HAVE ALWAYS HATED THE JEWS and tortured, raped, pillaged, etc., the Jews and their communities.
Because of this, many Jews came to America, where they were free to worship, free to have businesses. They support their homeland; we should likewise support our homeland, our troops, our President.

The problem that all too few liberals AND conservatives(not neoconservatives) see is that both the more liberal leaning Democrats and the conservative leaning Republicans tend to confuse Israeli objectives with our own. Israel is a sovereign state,NOT the 51st state, and we are not bound to support it on every issue or quite LITERALLY take our marching orders from it.
It is a foreign state like every other and yet we see that it is not treated as such, often in flagrant opposition to our best interests. Due to this unhealthy favoritism we have done ourselves much harm in the world. We have also been sloppy and have tended to rely on Israeli secret intelligence agencies for our information. The country of Israel has its own interests to pursue and RELYING on them for vital intelligence is madness. Who do you think provided us with the very false evidence of the WMD in Iraq?
Many respected conservative Republicans have tried to point this out but the antisemitic charge is trotted out and they are tarred with being racist when what they are being is true patriotic citizens.
add. notes: I have just read cattledog and he is an excellent example of a conservative with a good head on his shoulders . believe me,this is not ¨liberal¨ranting or anti semitism but a real problem that will not go away if all you can do is throw garbage(antisemitism charges) at it.

Blaming Israel for what? I support Israel. I'm a Democrat. What Liberal Doctrine? And it isn't blaming America for "barbarity," its blaming an administration. The President= Leader of America. The President DOES NOT= America. To dislike the President does not mean you dislike America you moron

I am not a liberal... as a matter of fact, I am more conservative than liberal and I believe that Israel is a big problem for us. Our relationship to Israel is heavily one-sided... we commit up to 6% of our budget to the protection of Israel and we have had up to 60 Israelis in our federal prisons for spying on us for Israel... We slap them on the wrist, keep them a few years and move them back to Israel.
Israel is a headache... I am not saying we should abandon Israel but we should exert a lot of pressure to make them fall in with our foreign policies... afterall, with the money and munitions we give them for free I think we should get something back. They are not the greatest ally... they could be though if we threatened to cut them off.
