When you purchase a new disk drive, and transfer everything from your old drive onto your new drive, everything in your old drive, icluding your browser, anti-virus program etc. can be simply transferred without having to reinstall anything. Am I right? That's what I was told by a dealer.

You'd have to use a special program. Windows file and settings transfer wizard might be able to do it, but you need to create a clone of your existing data and put that on your new hard drive. Otherwise, the operating system and programs can't just be copied and pasted, only cloned.

Yes, but you have to do it through the use of a third-party program such as Norton Ghost. There is no inherent tool on any PC that will do a full machine copy from one drive to another.
