We should be develpoing our own resources to the maximum while importing less and putting less money in the hands of middle eastern governments. They own hundreds of billions worth of our companies and debt instruments.

Also, developing our reserves will reduce our trade deficit substantially, support the dollar and put America in a stronger position. Before a lib greenie answers, please have an understanding of worldwide petroleum production and consumption because conservation and hybird cars will not solve the problem. They won't even slow down the rate of oil consumption in America as more and more people come here.

The more we restrict oil development, the more money we put into the hands of middle eastern governments. All in the name of global warming (the earth has been warming since the last ice age). So libs: Why can't we develope our own resources?

If you believe that conservation will not solve the problem, you must be aware of the huge shortfall of US production compared to consumption. Unless you know of an oil reserve in the US that could be developed to make up this shortfall, development won't solve the problem either.

Our government imposes us as Americans to pay for all those debts and dues to other countries. This is why we can buy anything from other countries. We as Americans foot the bill everytime. We use up our own resources and then look elsewhere. This country alone, doesn't have the options to be in control of its own resources unless we go a different path (ie autos-stop using gasoline as the power source to the auto and utilize something else--say soy, or corn.) I
